Until recently robots were hardly distinguishable from the simple metal slaves they were at the dawn of the Empire. Many indeed are still that, and some are in fact that ancient. However, great strides in the artificial brain and cybernetic integration have delivered to the Empire, and therefore to the Riga, entirely new breeds of robot.  Some of these advanced types; the artificial people, are barely distinguishable from people. These remarkable but costly beings perform roles previously filled by entire teams of people, or even wholly new tasks which their unique talents equip them for.
